Rowena Brown is an artist making sculptural ceramics. Based in London for 20 years, a few years ago Rowena moved her studio to the island of Iona in the Hebrides, Scotland.

Much of Rowena’s work is concerned with architectural spaces, and her inspiration comes in part from weather-worn and derelict structures in the Scottish landscape. Her handmade ceramic buildings are distinguished by their individual surface texture, marks and features. The forms are part-glazed, then raku or stoneware fired. Each of the pieces has its own character. They can be seen as isolated forms, or as part of a group evoking human interaction and community.

Rowena has a BA in Fashion Design from St. Martins School of Art in London and an MA in Fine Art from the University of Leeds. As well as being widely exhibited, her work has been featured in many publications including Ceramic Review, The Guardian, The Telegraph. In 2015 she won the award for the best newcomer to the show at Ceramic Art London.
