Matthew Richardson uses processes of collage and assemblage. He is interested in how things fragment through the passage of time - what is lost, what remains and what leaves a trace. Connections are found and built upon by working with fragments and idiosyncrasies of a particular media or material. The images and objects that emerge hover between the abstract and every day, the magical and mundane.

Matthew studied at Central St Martins and Kingston and lives and works in Norwich. His work has been shown in both gallery and museum spaces including New Craftsman, Transition, Outpost, Kingston Museum and The Beaney. Alongside showing ceramics, collage and assemblage, he has worked on numerous projects that include the V&A, the British Library and the Poetry Society.
