Kulbir Bhandal, 'Flowing In'

Following a move to a new home in a cohousing community on the Jurassic Coast I have been exploring my connection to place and how belonging is nurtured. 

My paintings are a mixture of observed, imagined and past spaces laid down in memory. Natural shapes are distilled down to simple forms which build through a dialogue, where form, feeling and memory find cohesive balance. 

I paint to match my drawing style, which is quick and where possible not overworked or corrected. 

The use of acrylic paints allows me to be spontaneous in my mark making. I use gestural, sketchy strokes to mimic natures lines of motion and movement.
